How to Get Rid of Bad Puppy Breath

People have a strong affinity with dogs. That is probably why they are regarded as a man’s (and woman’s) best friend. Dog lovers know the kind of relationship one can have with a furry companion. They can serve as one’s watchdog, child, or friend. You care deeply about your pets and do the best you can to provide them with proper attention and care. That is why when you notice problems or even slight differences in your pet’s body or manner; you try to find ways to address these issues. A very important issue is our dog’s health. And one thing that you should give proper attention to is oral health. No on likes bad puppy breath.

Puppies are cute and cuddly and perfect for hugs. But when you come across bad puppy breath, it is something that you want to treat right away. Nobody likes their pets to have foul-smelling breath. What do you do when your puppy suffers from icky, stinky breath? Here are ways that can produce instantaneous results:

1. Brush Your Puppy’s Teeth.

This is still the best way to keep plaque and tartar from building up. The less plaque, tartar, and decay – the fresher your puppy’s breath will be. It is best to brush their teeth daily. There are toothbrushes designed specifically for a dog’s teeth, but you can also use a children’s toothbrush as well.

Use toothpaste for dogs, and never use toothpaste that is normally for humans. The fluoride in it can be harmful to dogs, since they don’t get to spit it out like we do. It’s best to choose a pet toothpaste that isn’t flavored, because artificial meaty flavors can make their breath worse, and most animals aren’t a fan of mint. Odorless and tasteless is the way to go.

2. Use A Quality Water Additive.

These can often be a great solution, since most of us don’t have the time nor desire to brush our puppy’s teeth. The important thing is to use a water additive that is specifically for animal use, and preferably one recommended by your vet.

Our Pet Dental Water Additive has been vet recommended for over 25 years. Consider sending a link to your vet to see if they would recommend it for your dog. Once again – make sure you choose something that is both odorless and tasteless, so your puppy won’t even know it’s there.

3. Try Dental Treats and Chew Toys.

Some treats and chew toys claim to remove plaque and tartar in pets. Every dog is different though – so experiment with a treat or toy and see if you notice a difference.

Keep in mind that these products only work as a supplement to dental care. You can also ask your vet for recommendations that would be safe for your dog.

4. Give Them a Proper Diet.

Dry food may help to reduce tartar. It’s also a good idea to include vegetables in your puppy’s diet. Make sure that you choose high-protein food with real meat and lots of water to avoid dehydration and other problems.

5. Visit the Vet Regularly.

A check-up with your veterinarian is the best way to know what to do with your puppy’s bad breath. This way, you can know if there is any underlying medical condition like gastrointestinal and liver ailments behind the foul-smelling odor.

But seriously…

The easiest and most effective way to get rid of puppy breath, to clean their teeth, and to fight tooth decay is to use Pet Dental Water Additive. All it takes is one capful in their drinking water each day! That’s it.
