Some fast food chains are taking a stand and refusing to serve meat that was raised with ANTIBIOTICS
. However, 20 of the top 25 top restaurant chains have made NO
commitment to limit antibiotic fed meat.
Why should you care if you consume meat that was raised on antibiotics? Well, do you want your body to become resistant to life-saving antibiotics? Next time you get a bacterial infection, be it a common, "the everyone is getting it bug," or worse, staphylococcus aureus (aka - staph), your body may not respond to the prescribed antibiotics to get healthy
... because of the meat you decided to consume!
The declining effectiveness of antibiotics is a national public-health crisis. Roughly 80% of all antibiotics sold in the U.S. are used by the meat and poultry industry to make animals grow faster or to prevent disease in crowded and unsanitary conditions.
