We get it, you are busy! We live in a fast-paced world that never slows down. When work demands rev up, refer to these 8 tips on how to balance work and health. You can have both, but you have to be proactive so they do not COLLIDE!
1. Watch the Food
It is easy to grab things as you walk through the work kitchen or airport when traveling. When stress goes up, food choice quality usually goes down! Arm yourself by packing healthy snacks or by knowing what restaurants are the best to fuel up at.
2. Keep Exercising
Making even 15-30 minutes of physical activity a priority can help boost your productivity and focus. On the road, check if your hotel has a gym or safe area to walk outside. Plus, you can get a SUPER workout in with little to no space, thanks to resistance bands. Here are 6 moves you can do in your office or in the hotel.
3. Stay Hydrated
Your body needs water to function at its best! Stay hydrated by consuming at least 1/2 oz. water per pound of body weight. For example, if you weight 150 pounds, you need to drink at least 75 oz. of water. Hydration boosting tip: find a water bottle you like to drink out of.
4. Clear Your Mind
Stress is inevitable, but you can minimize it. Take a few minutes to count your breaths, practice deep breathing techniques, meditate, take a walk, or read.
5. Mind the Germs
Wash your hands! During stressful days, your immune system is suppressed, meaning you are more likely to get sick. No matter how much of a rush you are in, always take 30 seconds to wash your hands with warm, soapy water. Don’t have soap or water? Not a problem, pack hand sanitizer when in a pinch.
6. Sleep Tight
Don’t skip your Zzzs. Proper rest is essential when it comes to stress reduction, boosting immunity, and natural energy. If you are traveling, consider packing your favorite pillow if you have room to spare.
7. Plan Ahead
If a busy week is ahead of you, take time to plan it out. Look at your work schedule and determine which days you will exercise and what food you need to buy over the weekend to make healthy meals when you get home.
8. Stay Grounded
Get into nature whenever possible! Being around green helps reduce stress. Taking a quick walk in a nearby park or on a nature trail will boost your focus and energy immediately!
