We are looking for an energetic contributor to lead Research and Development & Quality Assurance for our innovative lines of pet hygiene, dental and cleaning products.  This role drives departmental plans and projects to support Oxyfresh's Strategic Plan. This role leads all activities around innovative product formulation, production and testing to ensure our products meet our strict quality assurance standards.

 

In This Role, You Will:

  • Lead all new product development from ingredients, formula creation and packaging innovations.
  • Closely monitor customer product feedback or internal production difficulties and recommend changes/improvements to existing products
  • Continually evaluate trends and lead innovative improvements to current product formulas and packaging based on industry trends including quarterly review of samples from competitors for evaluation/testing to help maintain our competitiveness in the marketplace
  • Oversee co-manufacturer product production. Ensure all protocols are followed and product specs are met for each production run for quality assurance.
  • Oversee 3rd party laboratory analytical product testing.
  • Maintain and create Safety Data Sheets for all formulas.
  • Maintain Prop65 compliance with all materials and ingredients.
  • Lead annual manufacturing audits and qualify new co-manufacturer partners when needed.
  • Oversee ingredient quality standards and qualify/audit approved sources.
  • Create and maintain SOPs for all product manufacturing processes
  • Ensure R&D projects and initiatives are managed through commercialization to fully support the vision and direction of the project brief
  • Partner with manufacturer laboratories to prepare prototypes and register them into a database with appropriate analytics.
  • Provide a science-based viewpoint throughout the innovation and commercialization process to ensure optimized product scale-up and launch
  • Create product/food safety protocols for products in this category to reduce safety risks
  • Create product specifications (including packaging specs), set up formulas, and write technical reports and establish finished goods testing.
  • Implements product focus events, including the analytical and physical evaluation and sample preparation. Build test protocols, recruit consumer testers, execute trials, and document results accurately and in a timely manner
  • Create NFPs for all new and reformulated products.
  • Submit and maintain all product certifications and ensure product adhere to regulatory compliance, including international regulations
  • Monitor current market trends via trade journals, conferences, and competitors' market trips to predict future focus
  • Lead internal and external product/ingredient trainings when needed.

 

In This Role, You'll Bring With You:

  • Five years of professional experience in consumer products required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, or another related field would be preferred but not required
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Fine attention to detail and ability to work both independently and in a group setting

Salary/Benefits:

  • Full-time
  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a few factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location
